Haliburton Highlands Chamber of Commerce
- Summer 2009 ~ Website Redesign
- This was my largest and most complex project to date. We migrated their old site & member directory from the Joomla CMS to WordPress.
- A fresh new site design was built with the Thematic theme framework. Using the combination of WordPress & Thematic allowed us to also significantly improve the site’s search engine optimization.
- I developed an improved Member’s Directory using an unlikely marriage of available WordPress plug-ins. Other new features include an Events Calendar & Job Posting Board for the Chamber’s member.
- The Chamber’s administrative staff have been very excited about the improved capabilities that WordPress is providing them with to the manage the content of the website themselves.
Clean Development Group – Haliburton, Ontario
- Summer 2009 ~ Website Redesign
- CDG’s old site was Flash based and they were having some difficulty not only with the search engine optimization, but also with wanting to easily update the site.
- I converted their site to an HTML-based version, cleaning up & tweaking the existing design and adding a number of new product offerings. By building the new site with WordPress & Thematic, we’ve also been able to resolve a number of their SEO issues.
- Most of the pages on the new site have their own unique Flash slide shows and I used Lightbox to create the image galleries within the product brochure pages.
Vasey Real Estate – Haliburton, Ontario
- Spring 2009 ~ Website Redesign
- We migrated this site onto the WordPress platform to allow ease of content management and increase the search engine optimization.
- The fresh & modern new design was built with the Thematic theme framework as a base.
- Features include a simple Flash slide show on the homepage and Lightbox galleries for the listing images.
- This project was done in partnership with Cottage Country Internet.
Kennisis Cottage Rentals – Haliburton, Ontario

- Spring 2009 ~ Website Redesign
- I designed Lea’s original website back in 2006 and when she needed to add a number of new cottages this year, I took the opportunity to give a fresh, new look.
- Both the old and new sites are managed with WordPress.
- This was my first project using the Thematic theme framework and I was quickly sold on its awesomeness, both for the speed with which it allows me to design a site and its built-in SEO features.
Niagara Ostomy Association – St Catharines, Ontario
- Spring 2009 ~ Website Redesign
- This is another site that I migrated onto the WordPress platform. This has allowed the clients to take over most of their own content management for the site.
- The simple design was built with the Thematic theme framework.
Ben Carnochan – Haliburton, Ontario
- Winter 2009 ~ New Website Design & Development
- Ben is an emerging Nature Photographer and he was looking for an economical website solution that he could manage himself.
- WordPress has allowed Ben to not only manage much of the content himself, but he’s using the blogging capabilities to begin to establish himself as a photo blogger as well.
- Features include a Flash slide show on the homepage and Lightbox galleries for the image presentation.
- We plan on adding a web store to the site in coming months as well.
PhotoHunt Haliburton – Minden, Ontario
- Spring 2009 ~ New Website Design & Development
- Roy came to me looking for a simple web page to begin with as he gradually builds his new Photography Tour business.
- As we only needed the one page to begin with, I coded it by hand, but as we build on to it over time, I’ll move it onto a content management solution like WordPress.
- This is another project that I’m doing in partnership with Cottage Country Internet.
Cottage Country Internet – Minden, Ontario
- Fall 2007 ~ New Website Design & Development
- I’ve been involved with Mike for many years, helping him manage his ISP’s and now as his in-house web dude.
- We needed to launch this site quickly, so I slightly modified a pre-made theme with WordPress to get it going fast, and Mike’s been so happy with it since then that we’ve simply left it be.
Sunny Rock Bed & Breakfast – Haliburton, Ontario
- Summer 2005 ~ Website Redesign
- This was my first commercial web development project.
- The main site is managed with the Textpattern content management system and then we’ve been running the B&B’s blog with WordPress.
- Sunny Rock’s owner Sally was my first big blogging convert. When we first re did her site, she was placing on the 5th and 6th pages of the search engine results for her major search terms. After a year of concerted blogging, we had her placing on the 1st page.
Haliburton B&B Group – Haliburton, Ontario
- Fall 2005 ~ New Website Design & Development
- Another WordPress managed website, built to profile the members of our local Bed & Breakfast owners association.
